Additional sips reveal maple syrup and more layers of caramelized sugar. After drilling progressively lower without finding whiskey, we finally pulled the bung and used a thief to get a taste. We thought there might be only 40 bottles left, which inspired the name Slim Pickens. That first taste stopped us in our tracks.
