The Triple Down Light Whiskey from Backbone is a Single Barrel Light Whiskey sourced from Indiana (MGP) and aged in the original barrel for 14 years and 5 months. It was barreled June of 2007 and bottled on November 21st of 2021. It was bottled at 136.8 proof and there are 160 bottles from this single barrel that we selected. It was a Char 3 and had a mashbill of 99% Corn and 1% Malted Barley.

The tasting notes for this single barrel are a nose containing confectionery sugar and hints of cinnamon. The palate has a good mouthfeel and a building spice note that lets you know this is higher proof. The finish is shorter than most bourbons but very pleasant in that the spice lingers. There is a caramelized sugar/ sweet note that jumps out to me throughout this pour and is very pleasant. Overall this does not drink anywhere near 136 proof. I look forward to everyone enjoying this Light Whiskey from Backbone.
