Notes: This is one of the first “Futures Series” single barrels released from Bardstown Bourbon Company. This was a single barrel program we were lucky enough to be selected for two years ago where we got a chance to pick a barrel and let it age until it was ready to be bottled. This program allows you to select from the overage barrels from the Bardstown Bourbon Co. contract distilling runs. At any one point there were up to 16 different mashbills you might get a opportunity to select from in your pick. The regular single barrel program only allows you to only select from the three BBC origin series mashbills. There will be no additional “futures series” barrel picks done and this year less than 20 barrels from this program will be bottled. These are very special because you get a unique mashbill outside of what BBC will put out in their single barrels going forward.
This six year Kentucky Straight Bourbon release represents so much goodness with how approachable and versatile it is. It can be enjoyed by everyone both neat and on the rocks as it drinks way below its proof and has tons of flavor.
Tasting Notes: I get notes of brownie batter and chocolate on the nose, moving into cherry cola on the palate with a subtle baking spice coming through on the finish. Overall this is a crushable delicious pour.
