Our two barrels from Copper & Cask are the first in a series I am calling "Barrels Across America" which seek to see how maturation environment actually impacts the whiskey.In this case, we have MGP aged in Kentucky, and the famed 36% mash bill that seems to be catching fire lately. Copper & Cask is doing some really cool stuff, and we picked these barrels on site at Copper & Cask in Rhode Island.
These Kentucky aged 36% MGP releases are bold and syrupy, punchy and complex and set the stage for a wide series of barrels to come that examine how climate impacts whiskey.

Tasting Notes: Punchy and loaded with brown sugar, maple, tobacco, cracked pepper, baking spice and gobs of honey. The high rye isn't kidding, and the combination of age and Kentucky aging make sure the oak is present as well, this barreling is all dessert, all day. Rich graham cracker crust on the palate, a prickle of proof combines with syrupy maple, opulent caramels and a punch of oak on the way out.
