Tasting Notes: Rich maple on the nose, root beer, cola, sweet and sticky toffee and salted caramel on the nose. There's a surprising amount of well developed oak here, co-mingled with rye spice, candied ginger, delicious baking spice and a pleasant brown sugar character. The palate on this barrel is loaded with brown sugar once more, sweet oak and punchy rye spice. The viscosity is off the charts, has this chewy, layered, syrupy texture that's really pleasant and decadent, paired nicely with a prickle of proof, oak, sweet buttercream and maple, toffee, nougat and a rye spice punch. The finish is looooong. Heavy on the oak, rye spice, maple, sweet cream and sticky caramels. This rye could do battle with my favorite heritage distillers at the same age with no trouble.
