Back on May 26th, with the help of some of your favorite whiskey community members, Durell Stewart, Jeffrey Wack, Todd Ritter and Bill and Delia Kavanaugh, we selected a very unique barrel of Hard Truth Sweet Mash Rye whiskey. Coming in at 123.3 proof, this 4 year old rye was aged in a custom spiral cut barrel that added a ton of depth and flavor to this rye whiskey. Hard Truth has been one of the most talked about rye whiskeys in the last year and we were very fortunate to get a single barrel to bring to the group!

Tasting Notes:

NOSE: Baked apple pie, orchard fruits, great baking spices, pecans, cherry, pipe tobacco, brown sugar, light chocolate notes

PALATE: great mouth feel, baking spices, more baked apple pie, nice blend of orchard fruits, pie crust, sweet oak, burnt brown sugar, cherry strudel, light milk chocolate

FINISH: sweet tobacco, oak, rye spice and more of that citrus and orchard fruit.

Extremely well balanced, complex and unique! Perfect pour for a Fall evening around the fire and great with a cigar.
