Hughes Brothers "Belle of Bedford" 10yr Single Barrel Rye Mash & Journey Private Selection
This product is currently sold out.
Today, Hughes Distillery has been resurrected by John J’s great-great-grandson, Cyrus Kehyari, with straight rye whiskey distilled in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, to specifications in keeping with the Hughes Bros. historic house style. Every barrel is carefully selected, the rye proofed with water from the Allegheny mountain spring on the original family estate, and each release is bottled by hand.
Scott and I had the opportunity to chat with Cyrus and he said he had some great 10-10.5 year rye whiskeys that would be great for the group. Here it isand we can't wait for you guys to add this beauty to your shelf.
Nose & Palate:
Hughes Bros Belle of Bedford Rye whiskey brings a burst of roasty and earthy notes including honey, fennel, licorice, vanilla frosting, caramel, roasted oak, and clove. There’s some spice but not a lot given the age. Honey, fennel, orange, cherry licorice, roasted oak, and clove stay on the palate with a spicy and sweet finish that brings sweet and herbal tones. Even at barrel proof it sips a bit like Michter's 10 year rye with less sweetness and more rye spice.
This is a throwback rye whiskey that rye lovers will appreciate!
