We did our barrel selections at The Reveries on Josh's birthday, and this barrel was named "Birthday Brunch" by the group because it reminded everyone of a previous S&W barrel selection called "Sunday Brunch." This barrel drinks older than the age statement would lead you to believe, with a refined sipping experience featuring an oily mouthfeel and long finish.
The flavor profile exhibits big fruit-forward notes of orange marmalade, raspberries, and strawberries with a bit of accompanying French toast underneath all the fruit. Subsequent sips start to highlight an old sweet oak note in a beautiful way, with the oiliness and finish building on subsequent sips as well.
