Tasting Notes:

This is a beautiful whiskey that rewards patience and defies its proof point.  On the nose, sweet, dark oak leads the way with brown sugar and lightly burnt caramel. A dynamic fruit profile brings layers of orange peel, passion fruit, and blueberry. As it sits, the rye spice starts to show more alongside vanilla cake, a touch of maple, coriander, and just enough sweet-and-savory character to give the nose some real depth.

Up front on the palate, the mouthfeel is initially soft and coating but deceptively powerful.  Sweet berries, orange, passion fruit, and a little lemon riding alongside lightly toasted and buttered rye bread with a beautiful sweet, dark oak. The mid-palate brightens considerably as the rye spice builds, bringing cracked pepper, a refreshing touch of mint, and a faint tartness that keeps all of that fruit and sweetness extremely well balanced.  On the finish, the sweet, dark oak returns as the fruit darkens toward blackberry and golden raisin, with lingering mint, cinnamon, rye spice, and cracked black pepper sticking around well beyond what you would expect from the proof.
