White Dragon

After finalizing our selection for our toasted single-barrel pick, we stuck around the rickhouse and tasted through a few more barrels. One in particular caught our eye – a Beer Barrel Bourbon finished in Dragon’s Milk White Stout barrels.

As the story goes, this barrel existed completely by accident.  After a Sunday of maybe one too many ales, the Monday morning task was to fill a few barrels in traditional Dragon’s Milk Stout barrels.  Instead, the whiskey found its way into Dragon’s Milk White barrels. The error was caught after just four fills. Three of these barrels are staying at New Holland. One is coming home with us.

And this barrel is an absolute rock star! So fittingly we named it White Dragon, a nod to Mark Wahlberg’s character from the movie Rock Star and his fictitious 80’s hair-band, Steel Dragon.

All the signature New Holland tropical notes are here front and center: the piña colada, peach pie, and ripe fruit. But what takes it to another level is the way the influence of the Dragon’s Milk White complements the tropical vibe with added layers of golden malt, mild toffee, dark chocolate, and just enough roasted and coffee notes to cut through the sweetness and make this unlike anything we’ve tasted from New Holland before.

Only one of these barrels may ever reach the public and we’re beyond excited to bring it to you. Sometimes mistakes turn into something pretty damn special. Dare we say it’s enough to make you want to …Stand Up and Shout! (if that one went over your head go back and watch the movie)
