Each year, the team at Project Optimist blends a small set of unique marrying casks and we pour our soul into them. They are experimental but polished, complicated to explain but easy to enjoy, and offer exceptional value for what they are. But most of all, they exist to support refugee assistance. The first $10,000 of revenue to be generated each year from this project will be donated to this cause, while any remaining revenue is funneled into research and development for next year’s work.

The program comprises a small set of single barrels, each with blend bill, marrying cask and finishing cask. These whiskies are bottled at cask strength and have recipe information on the label for our more technically-minded friends, including the PH level and Brix of the final blend.

Cask #1B5 is a blend of 60% rye whiskey, 30% bourbon whiskey and 10% toasted oak whiskey. It was married in a PX Sherry cask before being finished in a Calvados cask. Age stated 9 years old and bottled at cask strength (105.4 proof).
